Spring vacation for students extended

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) announces the seven-day extension of the spring holiday in primary, secondary and high school education.

„In order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus epidemic and to ensure the security of life and health protection of students and employees in the education system, following consultations with representatives of Local Public Authorities; local specialized bodies in the field of education; the National Council of Students, but also at the request of parents, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research decided to extend the spring break in primary, secondary and high school education (March 5-8) by seven days, for the period March 9-15, 2021 ", informs the relevant ministry.

The classes will be recovered with the physical presence of the students according to an individual schedule established by the administration of each educational institution.

At the same time, MECC warns the heads of public and private educational institutions regarding the establishment, during the spring holiday (March 5-15), of a flexible or special working regime, with the recruitment of the staff strictly necessary to ensure the functionality of the institution and of the staff whose activity requires the obligatory presence at work. For the staff whose activity does not require the obligatory presence in the educational institution, the distance work will be performed.

The MECC also recommends that class leaders in partnership with students' families monitor children during the spring vacation.
