Patrol inspectors check the legality of taxiing services
By May 31, the "TAXI" operation, organized by the National Patrolled Inspectorate, together with the National Auto Transport Agency, takes place throughout the country. The operation aims at verifying the legality of the taxi activity, including the use of vehicles with technical failures or re-commissioned without authorization, the technical revision of the transport unit, reports Moldova 1.
Drivers are also checked if they have paid their fines for irregularities recorded by video cameras. Yesterday, in just a few hours in the capital, 16 taxi drivers were sanctioned for not respecting the speed limit, not giving pedestrians priority, failing to follow the road signs and driving on red traffic light.
Since the beginning of the year, 25 road accidents have been recorded because of taxi drivers, with two deceased people and 34 traumatized.
