General Inspectorate of Carabineers will have a new development strategy

The General Inspectorate of Carabineers will have a new development strategy. An analysis report containing recommendations for improving the institution's activity was presented in Chisinau.

The experts consider that by implementing the Law on the General Inspectorate of Carabineers, in 2018, the institution received new competences, but in order to apply them the internal regulatory framework should be modified. The analysis report was prepared for two months with the support of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova.

"We want to join our efforts by strengthening the professional capabilities of the carabineers in all areas of public order and public security meant to ensure respect for human rights, quality services for the benefit of the citizen," said the Secretary General of State, Gheorghe Bălan.

"The US State Department is making a continuous effort to support the field of law enforcement in Moldova. The experts who conducted this study, carried dozens of interviews, reviewed hundreds of documents, and the recommendations will make the General Inspectorate of Customs Officers be better", said the director of the International Assistance Bureau, Kathleen Szipla.
