Case of tularemia, registered in the Ialoveni district

A case of tularemia was registered by the specialists of the National Agency for Public Healthcare (ANSP) to a hunter from the Ialoveni district, Radio Moldova reports.

According to ANSP data, the 56-year-old man, an amateur hunter, accidentally got infected through the palm wound, during the skinning of a hare. The local public authorities from the Ialoveni district, the territorial subdivision of ANSA, the district society of hunters and fishermen, were informed about this case.

Tularemia is a rare infectious disease that can attack your skin, lungs, eyes, and lymph nodes. Tularemia can happen anywhere in the world, but it’s most common in rural areas where animals are more likely to be infected with the bacteria. It can survive in soil, water, and dead animals for weeks. That’s why, it can cause infections in so many different ways.
