The "Alexandru cel Bun" gymnasium in Vărzăreşti (Nisporeni) has been renovated

The "Alexandru cel Bun" gymnasium in Vărzăreşti commune (Nisporeni) was renovated within the project "Education Reform in Moldova", implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) and financially supported by the World Bank. The renovation and modernization of educational institutions, according to the leaders of the MECC, is one of the activities aimed at improving the learning conditions in schools in the country and contributing to the promotion of effective reforms in the education sector.

"We appreciate the value and sustainability of PRIM in the process of renovation and modernization of educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova. Good learning conditions should be available for all children in the Republic of Moldova. Sustainability is that criterion that brings to the Project not only credibility but also the possibility to exist after the financing is completed, to generate services and mechanisms that multiply the positive effects from the initial investment,” said Corneliu Popovici, Minister of Culture Education and Research.

At the Gymnasium, 291 children are taught, nine of them are disabled, or with special educational requirements. In the renovation process, the school was equipped with access ramps and special toilets for children with disabilities. The school was built in 1973 and has never been repaired since.

The MECC also provided the equipment of the laboratories of physics, biology and chemistry. They were also equipped with language equipment and cabinets.

In total, within the PRIM program, 23 district schools from the Republic of Moldova will be renovated.

The project "Education Reform in Moldova" is implemented between 2013-2022. The total budget of the Project is $50 million, offered as a preferential loan by the World Bank.
