PSRM proposes to amend the Constitution

The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) will propose on Monday, in the Parliament, the amendment of the Constitution regarding the prohibition of political migration and the reduction of the number of deputies. The announcement was made, during a briefing, by the socialist deputy Vlad Batrîncea. In this context, PSRM made a public appeal to the representatives of three parliamentary parties.

"We, the socialists, introduce in the Parliament, starting with Monday, the initiative to amend the Constitution regarding the prohibition of political migration, an amendment that will aim at the imperative character of the mandate of deputy in the Parliament. PSRM comes with the initiative to amend the Constitution in order to reduce the number of deputies to 61. We believe that this is beneficial for Parliament, it will make it much more functional. The number 61 will ensure greater transparency in the eyes of citizens, will be beneficial to the national budget and is a blow to corruption in Parliament and those who try to manage things outside Parliament," said Vlad Batrincea.

PSRM appeals publicly to the Democratic Party, the Action and Solidarity Party and the DA Platform.

"We invite them to sign this project with us. We are ready to examine different formulas. We do not claim sole author status. We are all ready to support this project, to introduce it in Parliament and to bring it to a successful conclusion. We are open, 24 hours a day, so that colleagues can come up with positions, with certain proposals, so that on Monday we can register the project in the Parliament," the deputy mentioned.

The representatives of the targeted parties have not yet responded to this call.
