In several states, the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is in full swing

More than 100 million cases of SARS-CoV-2 disease have been reported worldwide since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, and the number of victims is over two million, according to official data. To prevent the spread of the infection in several states, the vaccination campaign is in full swing. Leading the way is Israel, where nearly 50 percent of the country's population has been immunized. Meanwhile, Mexico has begun receiving the first batch of vaccines against the new Coronavirus, reports Moldova 1.

According to Israeli health professionals, the number of cases of COVID-19 infection fell by 95.8 percent after vaccination. Thus, the secondary schools will reopen next month, after almost a year of distance education. However, social distancing measures remain in place.

Mexican authorities have received 200,000 doses manufactured by the Chinese laboratory Sinovac, which is the first part of a total of 10 million doses. They will arrive in the country by May next year, the government announced. This is the fourth coronavirus vaccine to reach the country.

Colombian authorities also received the second batch of COVID-19 vaccines.

"Six months ago, the vaccination process was far away. Today is a reality. The serum has arrived in our country to save lives, to help people who are at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 in the health sector. In the first phase, people over 80 will be vaccinated, then we will reach each age group," mentioned Ivan Duque, President of Columbia.

The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 has also begun in Australia. Government members were among the first to receive a dose of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Chinese pharmaceutical companies are looking to increase the amount of vaccine doses. The Beijing Institute of Organic Products says it aims to produce one billion doses of vaccine this year.

"Currently, we work practically 24 hours a day in workshops. The staff works in shifts to ensure the continuity of the production process," said Liang Hongyang, department director.

Meanwhile, about 2.2 million people have been vaccinated in the Russian Federation so far. It is the only country in the world that has so far approved the third vaccine against Coronavirus.
