German government: It is quite possible that Navalny was poisoned

Navalny remains in critical but stable condition at Berlin’s Sharite Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

German authorities believe that it is very likely that the Russian opposition leader, who was placed in a coma in a Berlin hospital, became a victim of poisoning, the spokesman of the German government Steffen Seibert announced today, quoted by AFP, BTA reported.

“This is a patient who is quite likely to have been poisoned,” the spokesman said, justifying the need to provide police protection to Navalny at the hospital. “The suspicion is not that Navalny poisoned himself, but that someone poisoned him, and the German government takes this suspicion very seriously,” Seibert added.

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny remains in critical but stable condition at Berlin’s Sharite Hospital, where he is being treated. This was stated today by the coordinator of the German government for Eastern Europe Dirk Weise to Zet De Ef television, quoted by the Associated Press.
