Revenues to the state budget managed by the Customs Service on a rise

In December, revenues to the state budget administered by the Customs Service increased. Thus, revenues of over 2.4 billion lei were registered, by 5% more against December 2019.

At the same time, in 2020, the revenues collected from the state budget amount to over 22.5 billion lei with a 1.7% increase compared to the established budgetary burden (control figure).

Next, the largest share is held by VAT payments, followed by excise duties and customs duties. Regarding the categories of goods subject to excise duties, the largest taxpayer remains the oil sector, with a share of 41.7%, followed by tobacco products, which generate 35% and cars, with a share of 16.3%.

The pandemic situation in Moldova has influenced the level of customs revenue collection. Before the national state of emergency was announced, the incomes have increased (+ 17%) compared to 2019, in April 2020, the revenues decreased drastically, being attested a decline of 35% (-697.9 million lei) compared to the same period of 2019.

According to the Customs Service, thanks to economic agents involved in international trade, the situation has gradually improved, so that in the last two months of 2020, revenues managed by the Customs Service increased by about 5% compared to the same period in 2019.
