More than 500 packages for Moldovans confiscated in France
Several Moldovans living in France were left on the eve of holidays without packages sent by relatives from the Republic of Moldova. Police in Nice confiscated over 500 parcels transported by four minibuses from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, Moldova 1 reports.
The French press writes that, following the searches, the police found 240 packs of cigarettes and 250 liters of contraband alcohol.
At the same time, although the minibuses were not equipped with refrigerators, alterable food was found in the packages.
Thus, the French health security authority confiscated and destroyed them. Three drivers have been fined and will recover their goods only after paying all customs duties. Through this action, the Nice authorities hope to discourage the illegal transport of parcels brought from Eastern European countries.
