A young craftswoman keeps alive a technique of hand embroidery, inherited from her grandmother

She knows how to keep alive the traditions left by her ancestors. Although she is at an early age, the folk craftsman Ileana Ciobanu has masterfully mastered the technique of hand embroidery from her grandparents, and for more than five years, clothes have come to life with the help of thread and needle. The young woman says that she does not stop here and has great plans for the future, Moldova 1 reports.

Since she was little, Ileana watched with interest how the women in her family skillfully handled the thread and the needle and decided to continue the beautiful tradition of hand embroidery. It all started with a passion, which later turned into a business.

"I think I inherited it from my grandmother, my mother and my sister, who have embroidered and still embroider. Grandma is the source of inspiration that probably gave me the love for embroidery," says the craftswoman Ileana Ciobanu.

The 25-year-old says that she is inspired by nature, by the people around her, by folklore, but also by stories, so that any piece of canvas has a special connotation. Among her works, there are clothing items that are no longer used, but which due to embroidery acquire a unique look.

A work she cares about a lot is a trench coat decorated with embroidery, to which she put a lot of soul. Ileana says that this craft will not disappear as long as new generations appear who love the art of beauty and pass it on.
