Border police officers trained in preventing and combating trafficking in human beings

30 border guards, working at the Chisinau International Airport crossing point, are trained this week on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings.

The phenomenon of trafficking in human beings (TFU) is addressed by participants alongside several experts in the field of combating cross-border crime and illegal migration, as well as psychologists.

Among the topics discussed are the following: Judicial-criminal investigation of trafficking in human beings and child trafficking, victim protection, proactive victim identification measures, victim assistance services at the Center for Assistance and Protection of Victims and Potential Victims of TFU, social services network, etc.

To assimilate the information disseminated, border guards will be trained in practical exercises to simulate the identification of victims of trafficking in human beings at crossing the state border.

The trainings are organized by the Border Police General Inspectorate, with the support of the International Organization for Migration in Moldova, based on the project funded by the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova. Within the project, 420 Border Police officers will be trained, with national and international experts as trainers.
