Igor Dodon suggest two draft laws on residents' social protection

Pensioners and low income working people will benefit from increased social protection. President Igor Dodon has submitted to parliament, as legislative initiative, two draft laws in the sector of residents’ social protection.

In a post on his Facebook page, Igor Dodon says that these projects, along with the initiative to index pensions twice a year, voted in Parliament in first reading aim  to increase the degree of social protection of pensioners and persons with the lowest incomes.
The first draft law provides for the amendment of the law on social assistance, through extending the number of potential beneficiaries of the social aid provided by the state for the cold period of the year by about 50,000 people.

Also, the head of state will ask the government to increase the quantum of this assistance from 300 lei to 500 lei monthly. The draft is to be promoted in parliament at the current session, so that its enforcement starts as of 1 January 2020.

The second draft law is aimed at guaranteeing by the state of the term of at least five years for the receiving of the age limit pension. Thus, in the case of the early death of the beneficiary of this type of pension, the wife (husband) survivor will receive the monthly allowance worth the age limit pension till the expiration of the period of five years after the date when the pension beneficiary got the right to pension.

Statistics shows that the average duration of the reception of pension for the people who do not live five either years after retirement is of only 2.6 years.
