How much the pensions will be indexed

After indexing by 5.3% on April 1, the average amount of the old-age pension will increase by 91.85 lei for 526 thousand beneficiaries and disability pensions will increase by 72.07 lei for 125 of thousands of beneficiaries, writes IPN.

Descendant pensions will increase by 47.25 lei for 12 thousand beneficiaries. The average pension of the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster will be granted to 1,749 beneficiaries and the average increase will amount to 173.79 lei. The indexation percentage was calculated on the basis of the annual growth rate of consumer price indices over the last three years.

Starting April 1, 2019, the amount of the minimum old-age pension will be 1,079.33 lei.

The provisions are contained in a draft resolution approved on Friday, March 15, by the Cabinet of Ministers. Asked by journalists why this project was needed, as the government assumed responsibility for pension indexing last week, the Minister for Health, Labor and Social Protection, Silvia Radu, said the assumption of responsibility was to have financial resources available to the state budget, necessary to cover these expenses. And now a government decree has been approved that appropriately increases these pensions.
