Stair of nine-story apartment building collapses in Otaci

The stair of a nine-story apartment building situated in Otaci town in northern Moldova caved in at about 9:20pm on June 19. There are no victims according to the preliminary reports. President Igor Dodon came on the spot this morning, June 20 and talked with the residents of this building, IPN reports.

The General Inspectorate for Emergencies (IGSU) said 46 people, 11 of whom children, were evacuated from the damaged building at about 6pm. Teams of rescuers and firefighters are working at the scene to make sure there are no persons under the debris.

Employees of the Police Inspectorate surrounded the high-risk area to secure the people. The commission for emergencies was convoked.
The head of state Igor Dodon said that it is necessary to inspect all the blocks at risk of damage.

The leadership of IGSU will draw up a list in this respect. First of all, the educational institutions will be checked.

In the discussion with the president, people told him that the basement of the block was flooded.
