Procedure for the election and dismissal of deputy mayors to be modified

Under a draft law proposed for approval in today's Government meeting, the procedure for the election and dismissal of the deputy mayors is to be modified in order to eliminate deadlocks in the formation and activity of local public authorities.

According to the draft amending the law on local public administration, the mayor will have the right to appoint or release from office a deputy mayor, if the subject is excluded from the agenda or if it does not meet the required number of votes at two consecutive meetings.

Also, it is proposed that the district president is elected from among the councilors so that it has the representation granted by the local community.
