Higher prices for vegetables

Vegetables have grown in price. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), vegetable prices increased by 31.5 percent in contrast to the same period last year, reports Moldova 1

Potatoes have grown in price the most. One kg costs 17 lei. If in April one kilogram of potatoes could be bought with about seven lei, it now costs an average of ten lei more. In the case of new potatoes, the price reaches 35 lei per kilogram.

The carrot got more expensive with five lei, the onion with seven lei and the beetroot with four lei.

NBS data show that since the beginning of the year, sales prices for sheep and goats have increased by 26 percent and poultry by about 12 percent.

Economists explain this trend through the shortage of products on the local market.
