Portal for budget transparency, launched

The Ministry of Finance launched today a web portal for budget transparency. Citizens can access the site to see how taxpayers' money is spent. Finance Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that budget transparency would contribute to the accountability of state institutions, reports Radio Moldova.

"The portal for budget transparency budget.mf.gov.md represents a step forward for the transparency of the way public money is collected and spent. Data visualization will make the budget more accessible. One of the basic priorities is that the public money be spent wisely for the benefit of citizens”, said the Minister of Finance, Natalia Gavrilita.

US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Dereck J. Hogan said that the American people support Moldova in the elaboration of this portal of budget transparency.

"The budget portal is intended for all types of users, from simple citizens without specialized knowledge, to researchers, economists, journalists and organizations. Transparency means providing information in an accessible and understandable way. The portal ensures this, to find out important information about central and local institutions. The budget portal is an important tool in ensuring reforms and responsible governance, it is one of the many tools by which the Government will promote its commitments", said US Ambassador to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan.
