Book about musical folklore in northern Republic of Moldova

He has discovered names of musicians who have preserved and brought a very important musical heritage today, investigated this phenomenon on the ground and wrote a well-documented monograph - we are talking about Nicolae Slabari, a doctor of arts studies who launched the volume "Folklore music in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova," published in the National Book Publishing Program, financed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, reports Moldova 1.

The old songs performed by Radu Talambuta and Nicolae Slabari were in the context of the launch of the monograph.

"Instrumental musical folklore focused on violin music, a monographic study done with much work, self-giving, collaboration with many musicians," said Nicolae Slabari.

Svetlana Badrajan, who pursued and guided Nicolae Slabari in the field of musicology, says his research is part of the promotion and safeguarding of non-material cultural heritage.

The research in the folklore archive of the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts was completed with the authentic musical material collected by Nicolae Slabari directly from the source in the field investigations he carried out in northern Moldova.

"This repertoire comes to recapture a local or regional repertoire and to offer to all those in the territory and to those studying a much wider material with melodic deciphering for all the songs that have not yet been included in the Register of Non-Material Cultural Heritage, said Corina Rezneac, National Commission for Safeguarding National Spiritual Patrimony.

The theoretical and musical material is complemented by a rich collection of photographs of instrumentalists from the northern republic.

"A very important event for national culture, for folklore, but also for our future, because such books form our history. Not just the songs are included, but each one is investigated. A very important book for folklore, including songs from the north, it is very important that they remain," said Petre Neamţu, Artist of the People.

Nicolae Slabari is the head of the Folklore Archives at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, continues his research in the field of fiddler music and conveys the knowledge, experience of the young generation of musicians.
