National Wine Day, in pandemic conditions

The organization of exhibitions, webinars and tastings, as well as the awarding of prizes and medals, are some of the activities that will take place on the National Wine Day, celebrated this year in pandemic conditions. According to the organizers, the actions planned for October 3 and 4 will review the successes achieved in the 19 years since the launch of the festival, due to which, the Wine Day has become a worldwide event. This year, all activities are organized in compliance with the protection measures against COVID-19, informs Mesager.

"We are organizing an exceptional webinar with one of the greatest journalists who write about wine. There will be a panel with nine journalists from different countries who will taste four emblematic wines of Moldova. This will be organized on October 3, and on November 4 we will have an event with bloggers from the USA. There will be an exhibition of labels in the center of the capital ", said Gheorghe Arpentin, director of the Vine and Wine Office.

"This year we will launch a contest for the elaboration of the logo of the National Wine Day festival. The contest will last a year, until the spring of 2021. I hope that at the jubilee, next year, we will have a separate logo ", said Irina Bîstriţchi, deputy director of the Vine and Wine Office.

The representatives of the wineries say that they have prepared a special program for the Wine Day, so that the public will have more pleasant surprises.

"In partnership with wineries, we will offer sets of wines for tasting at a reasonable price. Moreover, in order to delight our consumers with special offers, we will make price reductions in certain supermarket chains for certain wines. We are also planning a wine and food pairing event with a select dinner in partnership with a restaurant from Chisinau ", said Ruxanda Lipcan, winery representative.

According to the authorities, this year's grape harvest is one of the smallest in recent times.

"Despite all the difficulties, we are sure that this holiday needs to be organized. We need to be with our producers. The fruit we harvest is of good quality and of course it will also have a pretty good place on the world market ", said Mihail Machidon, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture.

The National Wine Day has become over time the main national holiday dedicated to the wine heritage and wine of Moldova. The event is organized for the 19th consecutive year.
