Study: Pandemic has severely affected Moldova's education system

The COVID-19 pandemic severely affected the education system in Moldova. According to a study conducted by the National Youth Council of Moldova, in the first semester of education, 62% of young people had online lessons, Mesager reports.

92% of teachers, 77% of parents, but also 67% of students believe that the value of the education system during the pandemic has decreased considerably. Thus, 89% of teachers say they have observed a decrease in the level of performance among young people.

One problem that students face during online lessons is lack of internet, poorer connection or connection difficulties.

"Despite the efforts of local public authorities, but also of development partners in Moldova, who came to support the smooth running of education in Moldova, the efforts of the authorities show that the impact has been felt considerably, including in the education system, not only in the field of healthcare or economics ", said Roman Banari, Secretary General of the National Youth Council of Moldova.
