The Republic of Moldova has, for the first time, a military attaché in Canada

The military attaché of the Republic of Moldova to the United States of America, Colonel Vitalie Micov, was also accredited in Canada, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defense.

The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Department of National Defense (DAN) in Ottawa, with the participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Canada, Ala Beleavschi, and the head of the DAN Foreign Affairs Division, Colonel Acton Kilby.

Thus, according to competencies, Colonel Vitalie Micov will be responsible for ensuring effective cooperation between the defense structures of the two countries, identifying new opportunities for development and improvement of the partnership between the National Army of the Republic of Moldova and the Canadian Armed Forces.

At Ottawa, the military diplomat had a series of meetings with DAN officials to identify cooperative projects between both defense institutions to continue the reforms initiated by the Defense Ministry's leadership.

Note that in October 2018, Colonel Vitalie Micov was seconded by the US Department of Defense as a military attaché. The decision was taken by the management of the institution in order to promote the strategic dialogue on the defense dimension between the Republic of Moldova and the USA.
