New rules of crossing the border with the Ukraine

The citizens who plan to travel to Ukraine must know that they need to present a health insurance policy for COVID-19 at border crossing points. So as not to be obliged to self-isolate for 14 days, they must present the negative test for the novel coronavirus. This can be also done at Ukrainian labs during 48 hours of the entry, IPN reports.

The test in Moldovan labs should be done not earlier than 48 hours before crossing the border. The results should be preferably in Russian or English. The given mechanism took effect on August 13 and exempts the foreigners from the obligation to self-isolate at home or stay in quarantine when entering Ukraine if a negative test is presented.

The Moldovans can transit Ukraine in both directions after confirming that the process will not last longer than two days, by presenting the bus ticket, for example.

The Ukrainian authorities extended the quarantine period until August 31, with the observance of the epidemiological norms and personal protective measures being mandatory.

In case of problematic situations, citizens can call Moldova’s consular service.
