Over a thousand people treated of COVID donate plasma

Between April 13 and October 15, 2020, 1,060 people treated of COVID-19 joined forces to fight the infection, providing 3,612 doses of plasma, which were distributed in healthcare institutions where patients with severe and extremely severe forms of COVID-19 are treated, reads a press release of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection (MSMPS).

MSMPS reiterates its call on all persons treated with COVID-19 to show solidarity with patients in serious health condition by donating convalescent plasma containing antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In order to help save lives, COVID-19-treated individuals may sign an agreement for subsequent recruitment by the National Blood Transfusion Center.

"Convalescent plasma donation will be made two weeks after discharge by men who have been treated with COVID-19, aged between 18-60, who do not have chronic diseases: diabetes, cardiovascular disease and lung, liver and kidney diseases ", reads a press release of the quoted source.

People can donate plasma both at the National Blood Transfusion Center, which has subdivisions in Balti, Cahul and Chisinau, but also in other donation centers. In order to donate, people will present a copy of the extract issued by the family doctor or hospital institution confirming that they have successfully completed the treatment for COVID-19.
