Amendments to over 30 articles of the Labor Code

The deputies approved today, July 9, in the second reading, amendments to over 30 articles of the Labor Code.

These relate, in particular, to ensuring the possibility of applying flexible working hours and compensating for overtime with paid leave, which should be provided for in collective bargaining agreements at unit level or in individual employment contracts. 

It is also provided to guarantee the maintenance of the job and the average salary during the periodical medical examinations, as well as the exemption of the employees from the obligation to present, at the time of employment, some documents inappropriate for the employer.

At the same time, it is proposed to ensure the right of the head of the unit to transfer some rest days (working days) to other days. For public authorities and institutions, this right is offered to the Government.

The employee who intends to adopt a child will have the right to request unpaid leave for a maximum period of 90 days.

The draft law amending the Labor Code of the Republic of Moldova is developed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, in collaboration with the National Confederation of Employers, the National Confederation of Trade Unions and the State Labor Inspectorate.
