Doctors: The fight against COVID-19 is like a war from which we must emerge victorious

"The fight against the COVID-19 virus is like a war from which we must emerge victorious!" - this is how the last six months of their lives are described by several medical workers from the Republic of Moldova, who defend the borders of public health. Even if they are exhausted, they continue to be in the front line and cope with the high workload. Their statements can be found in an emotional video, released today by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, reports Moldova 1.

"The workday starts at six in the morning. I have 24 hours in which I have to pay maximum attention to patients," says Viorica Bezer, rehabilitation doctor.

"Every day, the specialized team goes to at least ten requests. If it's 40 degrees outside, we can feel them at 50 to 55 degrees. When you do something and see that it is good, you receive satisfaction," says Viorica Petcova, emergency doctor.

"We have to come with good, beautiful thoughts, so that patients can enjoy us," says Valentina Stolnic, a nurse.

It is most difficult for doctors treating children infected with COVID-19. Specialists say that the pandemic affected the little ones the most, who had to stay indoors for a long time.

"There were times when we had to be the ones to tell these children that the mother is no longer alive," says Tatiana Stirbu, an infectious disease doctor.

Doctors say they had to adapt to some complicated forms of the disease.

"We work practically on the phone and at home, on holidays. We have to adapt to some particularly aggressive forms and some lung injuries that we have not encountered before,” says the head of the ATI, IMU department, Adrian Belîi.

"Even people who deny the existence of the virus, believe in the virus, but psychologically try to calm down that it does not exist," says Petru Dodu, family doctor.

However, health workers are convinced that the Coronavirus pandemic can be defeated if people follow the protection measures.
