Parking is allowed on the sidewalks, leaving 1.5 meters for pedestrian traffic
Parking on the sidewalks will be allowed only by leaving at least 1.5 meters for pedestrian movement so as not to create obstacles for people with disabilities, people with trolleys or older people. These amendments to the Road Traffic Regulation were approved today by the Executive, according to a Government press release.
At the same time, stationary vehicles must not block access to stairs, ramps or curbs, intended for persons with locomotor deficiencies.
The implementation of these measures will increase the accessibility of pedestrian and pedestrian ways, especially in crowded urban areas.
A similar practice is also applied in the Member States of the European Union. For example, in Slovakia and Poland parking on the sidewalk is allowed only if at least 1.5 meters is left for pedestrian traffic. In Romania, this distance can not be less than one meter.
