Magistrates Ion Druţă and Oleg Sternioală, dismissed from the CSM

The members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) today decided in an extraordinary meeting of the CSM, to accept the requests of resignation of the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), Ion Druţă and Oleg Sternioală. The decision was approved by 7 votes, for their dismissal.

The two magistrates are criminally prosecuted for illicit enrichment, for money laundering in particularly large proportions and interference in the execution of justice.

The decision of the CSM is to be submitted to the Parliament of Moldova for adoption.

We remind that, the two judges were detained previously for 72 hours, and prosecutors conducted searches in their offices and homes. Following a court decision, they were released.

Ion Druţă worked as a judge for 25 years and Oleg Sternioală, for 18 years.
