Medical workers and pharmacists celebrate their professional day

The Day of the Medical Worker and Pharmacist is marked every year on the third Sunday of June.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection will make further efforts to improve the Human Resources Development Strategy for Health. That's what Health Minister Ala Nemirenco said at the "Public Space" show. The update of the strategy will also take into account the views of an expert from the World Health Organization (WHO) in order to halt to some extent the exodus of doctors from the country, reports Radio Moldova.

"Every state tends to minimize this migration flow and keep its cadres in every area in its own country. This Strategy has been developed under the auspices of the WHO, as well as various valuable international experts, the Ministry of Health approved it in 2016 and began to work on many topics. At the moment, the Health Ministry asked the WHO for an expert to assess the real degree of implementation of this strategy. In the near future, the expert will return with this assessment and the actions of the ministry that would fit into this Action Plan," said Health Minister Ala Nemirenco.

On this occasion, about 500 medical workers from the health care institutions in the country have recently received diplomas of appreciation from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection for abnegation and professionalism in the field of health protection of the population and personal contribution to the development of the health system in the Republic Moldova.

According to the Ministry of Health, about 10,033 doctors and 20,234 nurses work in the medical institutions.

The day of the medical worker and the pharmacist was established by presidential decree in 1994.
