Over 200 explosives discovered by National Army engineers
The engineers of the National Army identified and neutralized 206 explosives of different types, within 27 demining missions, executed on the entire territory of Moldova in November, reads a press release the Ministry of Defense.
According to the senior officer of the Engineering Service, Captain Ivan Cornegruţa, during that period, the engineering teams were requested twice in the village of Plop-Ştiubei, Causeni district, where they identified an arsenal of over 160 ammunition. Demining missions were carried out by the soldiers of the Genius Battalion "Codru".
Also in November, engineers were called to Larga village, Anenii Noi district, and Sculeni locality, Ungheni district, where they liquidated explosive objects of different calibers, including a 50 kg aviation bomb, all of them date back World War II.
Since the beginning of this year, the engineers of the National Army have detected and defused 2,427 explosives. Most of them were discovered in the localities from Ştefan Vodă, Ialoveni, Căuşeni, Cimişlia, Floresti and Anenii Noi districts.
