Authorities set Yellow Code for the risk of infection with coronavirus

The authorities established a Yellow Code at national level, related to the situation regarding the rising cases of illness with the new type coronavirus, especially in Italy. The decision was taken today by the Public Health Commission on the epidemiological situation, which was convened by the Government, Moldova 1 TV reports.

According to the Minister of Health, Viorica Dumbrăveanu, the yellow code implies "increasing the measures in the context of prevention and control of the coronavirus". She said that the epidemiological situation is under control and called on the citizens to respect the hygiene rules. At the same time, it was mentioned that the medical institutions are equipped with medicines, beds and equipment in case of infection with coronavirus disease.

The Interior Minister (MAI) said that starting with today, a thermo scanner will be installed at Chisinau International Airport and all passengers entering the country are checked. Similarly, border guards are provided with masks, gloves, disinfectants and digital thermometers.

In the context of the alarming situation regarding coronavirus in Italy, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that he is contacted by Moldovan citizens who work there and inform him that they want to come home.

The WHO representative urged the authorities to prepare for the emergence of infection cases and to be ready for the calm management of the situation. He spoke about the measures taken by the authorities of Italy to prevent the spread of the epidemic outside the regions, and emphasized the application of measures to isolate the localities where cases of infection are identified.

According to MAI data, in the last 24 hours, about 700 Moldovan passengers returned from Italy by plane.
