Today is International Volunteer Day
Today, December 5, is International Volunteer Day. On this day, all those who were involved in voluntary actions in the community, at national or global level and brought changes for better governance, for social cohesion and development are honored, Radio Moldova reports.
Every year, in addition to mobilizing thousands of volunteers, the United Nations Volunteers program contributes to peace and development by advocating for the recognition and integration of volunteers and partnership work in government development programs.
"The difficult period of the pandemic started and mobilized many volunteer actions, which showed that, first of all, we are human. We thank public organizations, local and foreign companies, individuals who get involved in volunteer activities and bring joy to children, the elderly, needy families. Volunteering, of course, does not replace the tasks of state authorities, but complements joint efforts to change things for the better. Volunteering unites us, because any good gesture made from the heart must touch the soul of the beneficiary ", wrote the President of the Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, on her Facebook page.
