A new program to support socio-economic development, launched with EU support in Cahul

A new program to support socio-economic development was launched with the support of the European Union (EU) in Cahul. The EU program for Moldova involves the development of public services and will address the issue of climate change by capitalizing on innovative potential and opportunities for ecological economic development, as well as by supporting and empowering citizens. For the implementation of the program, EU will allocate almost 23 million euros, reports Moldova 1.

"This program encompasses several areas of development, whereby we can demonstrate what we know how to do. Several craftsmen show their unique art here,” said Nicolae Croitor, president of the Association of Popular Masters.

The EU intends to invest 23 million euros to support sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Cahul and Ungheni and neighboring localities.

"This assistance comes for concrete projects on which much time has been spent. Today we not only announce some intentions, but also announce a program with an impressive budget allocated to Cahul," said Cahul Mayor Nicolae Dandiş.

The EU's "Key Regions" program is the pilot initiative that supports you in making positive changes in communities, in creating other EU-funded initiatives and other projects. This is why you will see in the future the slogan "EU for Cahul", for all EU funded projects in the Cahul area," said EU Ambassador to Moldova, Peter Michalko.

"There has been a thorough preparation process for this development initiative, which will transform Cahul and the adjacent regions into a development pole," said Dima Al-Khatib, UNDP resident representative in Moldova.

The EU program "EU4Moldova: Key Regions" will be implemented by 2025.
