Four candidates fight for Gagauzian Bashkan office

Four competitors, enrolled in the electoral race, will fight for the Bashkan position of ATU Gagauzia. These are Irina Vlah, Sergei Cimpoies, Ivan Burduji and Dmitri Manol. Thursday, June 6, was the last day of examining the files submitted by the pretenders to the Gagauz Election Commission, IPN reports.

Asked by IPN, Commission President Ivan Comur said the file of the last contender, Vasili Aladov, had been rejected by the Election Commission in a meeting. This is because many irregularities have been identified in the subscription lists. The condition of validity of 1,500 signatures has not been met, repeat signatures, counterfeit signatures, irregularities regarding the identity of the signatories and their place of residence have been identified.

Previous subscriptions lists have been issued and for two other candidates, Elena Novac and Mihail Vlah. Elena Novac announced she was withdrawing and returning the lists to the Commission. Mihail Vlah also announced that he was withdrawing, but did not turn the subscription lists yet, which is obligatory.

Ivan Comur argues that according to the electoral legislation, the electoral campaign for the candidate begins when he is registered in the race and ends the day before the elections.

The election of the Bashkan would take place on May 19, but by a decision of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia were transferred for June 30.
