The first doses of influenza vaccine have arrived in Soroca district

The first doses of influenza vaccine have arrived in medical institutions in the country. Soroca district has received 180 doses to be administered, mostly to nurses interacting with patients suspected or infected with COVID-19. According to experts, immunization is the safest way to prevent disease and avoid complications. Vaccination is recommended for people at high risk of disease and are immunized free of charge, Moldova 1 reports.

Among the first to come to be vaccinated at the Soroca Health Center are several front-line medical workers, as well as patients at high risk of illness.

So far, medical institutions in Soroca have received 180 doses that are stored in a refrigerator at temperatures up to eight degrees Celsius. In total, the district will benefit from over a thousand doses of vaccine, as in previous years.

The 100,000 doses that arrived in the country from the Russian Federation in November have already been distributed to medical institutions.

"People with chronic diseases are vaccinated, such as: lung diseases, patients with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, acute respiratory infections, medical workers, customs staff," said Stefan Gheorghita, head of department at the National Agency for Public Health.

According to officials, another 100,000 doses of vaccine will arrive in Moldova next week. Of these, 85,000 are donated by the United States and 15,000 are purchased through UNICEF.
