Cristina Lesnic: We need an efficient dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol

We need the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol to be efficient, prompt, real-time and meet the reality of the Republic of Moldova. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic. In a press conference, Cristina Lesnic mentioned about the measures taken in the Transnistrian region regarding COVID-19.

"We need the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol to be efficient, prompt, real-time and meet the reality of the Republic of Moldova. Also, it is important to inform citizens about additional measures that will be taken every day, under a more restricted regime, or, as the case may be, when necessary, to find solutions to systemic problems or individual solutions in certain cases", said Cristina Lesnic.

Regarding the measures taken during this period in the Transnistrian region, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration stated: “Measures regarding self-isolation, certain restrictions regarding the suspension of the activity in the Transnistrian region of certain economic agents. It is about observing the 14-day quarantine regime, as well as avoiding with maximum justification the circulation during the COVID-19 period”, said Cristina Lesnic.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, there are six cases of infection with the new coronavirus in the Transnistrian region, and over 1500 people are in self-isolation.

The official said that, last week, citizens from the left bank of the Nistru received two batches of drugs from Moldova. Also, several categories of people, including farmers, policemen, rescuers and firefighters will be able to cross the left bank of the Nistru without being kept in quarantine, reports Moldova 1. At the same time, Cristina Lesnic said that the two offices of the Public Services Agency, which ensured the registration of the means of transport in the Transnistrian region, will cease their activity amid state of emergency.

"In my first week in office, I managed to re-establish the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol under emergency conditions. Likewise, we have set up clear mechanisms regarding access to medicines, phytosanitary goods and fertilizers. We established exact rules to what extent certain categories of people have access to the Transnistrian region without being kept in quarantine, provided that the person and the people around him are not affected by this pandemic. Last but not least, ensuring food security in the Transnistrian region”, said Lesnic, quoted by Moldova 1.
