Old Moldovan carpets, exhibited at the museum in Cahul

The Museum of Chisinau municipality hosts an exhibition of carpets. 10 woven carpets from the museum's collection are displayed, Radio Moldova reports.

The exhibition is organized in the context of celebrating 3 years since the inclusion of traditional techniques for making bark in Moldova and Romania on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

"There are carpets woven in the south of Moldova, purchased through donations, they are woven from wool, cotton, hemp. These were used to heat the walls, lining the walls or they were for furniture, box, dowry box or they were also put under the feet of newly married couple in the wedding", said the museum's director, Marina Prepeliţă.

By this exhibition, the museum administration wants to capitalize on these precious objects of heritage. The collection of carpets continues, but fewer people want to donate to the museum.

The exhibition of carpets can be seen at the Cahul Museum by January 14.
