Five communes will implement an efficient waste management system

Five communes in the Republic of Moldova will receive assistance from the French Republic for the implementation of sustainable waste management. The project will contribute to improving the standard of living in rural areas and will lay the foundations for a national strategy in this area. This was explained today, during a press conference on "Sustainable waste management in the central-eastern part of the country: a project of decentralized Franco-Moldovan cooperation", by the French ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Pascal Le Deunff, reports Radio Moldova.

The project will offer the administrative-territorial units the possibility to streamline public services, according to the intercommunal specialist Adrian Furculiţă.

"The waste management service requires a lot of investment in the purchase of equipment. The project is a pilot, and our goal is to donate the tools and allow the local public administration to be able to organize itself in the sense of obtaining an economic viability and an improved quality of the public waste management service," said Adrian Furculiţă.

The representatives of the French Republic also added that France and the Republic of Moldova have a lasting partnership, and France is ready to continue to help the Republic of Moldova in other areas as well.

"This project is carried out by the French Republic in collaboration with five communes in Telenesti district and aims to improve waste management and local development. It is a pioneering project in Moldova," mentioned the ambassador Pascal Le Deunff.

According to the ambassador, the project now benefits from a budget of 200,000 euros from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
