Business with grape vine cuttings, in Sireţi

After the wine has been carefully placed in the cellars, people plan new vine cuttings in the vineyards. Autumn planting is carried out on well-drained soils and begins with the first frosts. The works are completed before the negative temperatures are recorded, Mesager reports.

Farmer Vasile Vutcărău from Sireţi village, Straseni produces vine cuttings resistant to drought and frost. For three years, the man has worked in a vineyard in France. When he returned home, the farmer opened his own business and currently runs a nursery for the production of vine cuttings.

"It must have enough roots, well developed, not to have mechanical injuries", said Vasile Vutcărău, entrepreneur.

There are several rules that should not be neglected when setting up a plantation, says the entrepreneur.

"First of all, the soil must be well cultivated, at a depth of 55-60 cm, we recommend that the grafting point be planted about 3-4 cm above ground level, we recommend bare planting" , said Vasile Vutcărău, entrepreneur.

The farmer produces about 40 varieties of vines, 15 of which are technical. This season, due to the pandemic, the farmer found himself in a difficult situation.

"We had a lot of contracts with many partners outside the country and as a result of the pandemic, even if the plants were booked, many of them were paid, but sales and achievements were not made because the borders were closed,"  said the entrepreneur.

About seven million vine cuttings are produced annually at the Sireti nursery.
