Moldova adheres to the CIS agreement in fight against theft of cultural values

Moldova adheres to the CIS agreement in fight against theft of cultural values and the securing of their restitution. Parliament adopted a bill to this effect in second reading with the vote of 74 MPs.

However, the Republic of Moldova will refrain from fulfilling its obligations regarding the improvement of the normative-juridical framework of cooperation and of the mechanisms of interaction.

The implementation of the provisions of the Agreement will contribute to increasing efficiency in the fight against the theft of cultural values, taking into account the fact that the phenomenon gained a transnational character.

The Government will take the necessary steps to implement the provisions of the Agreement.

The cooperation agreement between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in fight against theft of cultural values and  securing of their restitution was signed in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 5 October 2007 by the following states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation , Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine.
