PSRM: Early elections are necessary for Moldova, but after the pandemic crisis

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) considers that early elections are absolutely necessary in the Republic of Moldova, but only after a successful exit from the pandemic crisis. This is how PSRM comments after today the president-elect, Maia Sandu, declared that the early parliamentary elections must be launched as soon as possible.

"PSRM believes that early elections are absolutely necessary in the Republic of Moldova, but only after a successful recovery from the pandemic crisis, because the health and lives of the people must be put before any party interest. If Maia Sandu thinks she can better manage this crisis, we invite her to get involved now in managing it, not later, to do as she promised to the citizens who voted for her. The involvement is not made through populist declarations and justifications of impotence, but through actions, through immediate assumption of responsibilities for the health of the population," reads a communiqué issued by PSRM.

At the same time, PSRM "considers that the current Government acts professionally and responsibly".

"Under no circumstances will we leave the country without a functioning government in such a complicated period. We will remain responsible to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova," reads the communiqué.

The President-elect of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, said today that the Chicu Government must resign, but not before approving the 2021 State Budget Law.

"This government must leave. We have expressed this point of view in the past and we express this point of view now, after we have all seen the results of the elections. Before leaving, this Government must fulfill its functions," Maia Sandu underlined.

Maia Sandu mentioned today in a discussion with the press that the early parliamentary elections must be triggered as soon as possible. According to her, the shortest path to early parliamentary elections is the resignation of the Chicu Government.
