The DA Platform initiates the collection of signatures for the convening of the extraordinary plenary session

The Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) will initiate today, August 7, the collection of signatures for the convening of the extraordinary sitting of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. An announcement in this regard was made by the president of the parliamentary faction of the DA Platform, Alexandr Slusari, during a briefing. According to him, the need to urgently convene the plenary of the Parliament comes as a result of the unfavorable weather conditions, which affected the spring and autumn cereal crops. In this context, the DA deputy calls on all political factions to sign and support the launched initiative.

"The Political Bureau of the DA Platform empowered the parliamentary faction to initiate the convening of the extraordinary session. And this can be done at the request of 1/3 of the deputies. We need 34 votes to convene the special sitting of Parliament. According to the decision taken, today we will send the document to all the political factions in the Parliament, so that we can start collecting the 34 signatures from next week," Alexandr Slusari declared.

According to him, as provided by Parliament's Rules of Procedure, the DA Platform faction also came up with the proposed agenda for the next special sitting of Parliament, which will include three topics, including the hearing of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.

"We have already come up with the proposed agenda, as this is the Regulation of the Parliament. We propose to examine three points. However, we understand that we cannot set the agenda on our own, so we call this government and all the political forces in Parliament accountable. Let's elaborate the common agenda and collect 34 signatures next week," also said the deputy of the DA Platform, Alexandr Slusari.

According to MP Alexandr Slusari, the convening of the extraordinary sitting of the Parliament is dictated by the problems faced by farmers in the country as a result of unfavorable weather conditions that have severely affected this year's crops. According to him, it is necessary for all political forces to join forces in order to help farmers.

"Currently, we consider that there is an objective possibility to identify even in August 500 million lei to compensate the losses of agriculture to first group cereals and perennial plantations damaged by hail. In September, we will also find resources to compensate for the damage to spring crops. It is imperative that we declare a state of emergency in disaster-stricken localities and allow farmers to reschedule debts to private creditors. At the same time, it would be appropriate to introduce a one-year tax holiday for agricultural producers who have had to bear losses. This is the roadmap proposed by the DA Platform for the next parliamentary session," Alexandr Slusari also declared.

So far, no parliamentary faction has come up with a reaction to the DA Platform initiative.
