The DA Platform is launching a legislative initiative on the public pension system

The Dignity and Truth Platform (DA Platform) draws the public's attention to the situation of pension indexation for the current year. In this regard, the DA Platform has developed a concept to amend the Law on the public pension system, so that the Government can index pensions even if the official inflation is below 2%.

During a press conference, the president of the DA Platform, Andrei Năstase, urged the deputies to support this initiative.

"We deeply regret the fact that the government did not solve this major problem in time and did not reserve in the budget the amount necessary for a real indexation, palpable for retirees. In order to solve the problem of pension indexation, it is necessary to rectify the budget until April 1, 2021, a rectification that can be operated exclusively by an executive with full responsibilities," said Andrei Năstase.

According to the leader of the DA Platform, the system for calculating the inflation rate in the Republic of Moldova is discriminatory. Thus, according to him, out of the over 686 thousand pensioners, about 475 thousand receive pensions under 2,000 lei, insufficient money to procure basic food products and medicines and to cover communal services.
