Maia Sandu: The procedure for dissolving the current Parliament must take place as soon as possible

Early parliamentary elections must be launched as soon as possible. A statement to this effect was made by the President-elect of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, during a discussion with the press. According to Maia Sandu, the shortest path to early parliamentary elections is the resignation of the Chicu Government.

"Yes, I think the Chicu government must leave, including because that says the result of the presidential election. I repeat, the November 15 elections are not only about Igor Dodon, they are about his government, the system he inherited from Plahotniuc and used against the people," said President-elect of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu.

In this context, Maia Sandu states that a motion could be initiated against the current government. "If such a motion against the Government is considered the most appropriate, then colleagues in Parliament along with other representatives of Parliament will come up with this formula," Maia Sandu said.

Referring to the early parliamentary elections, Maia Sandu states that there are several ways in which they can be triggered and says that, as president, she will be guided only by the ways stipulated in the Constitution.

"The ways in which early elections can be triggered are clearly written in the Constitution and we will follow these ways. We will continue to talk to other political parties. At the moment, the shortest path to early parliamentary elections is the resignation of this government. What is certain is that early parliamentary elections must take place as soon as possible. With this parliament we are just wasting our time. The sooner these elections take place, the better for the citizens," said the elected president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
