Igor Dodon promulgates the law on cancellation of mixed electoral system
The Law amending some legislative acts, aiming at canceling mixed electoral system and return to proportional electoral system on party lists was promulgated.
„The need to cancel the mixed electoral system arose in the context of the recommendations of the Venice Commission and the development partners of the Republic of Moldova ”, wrote Igor Dodon on Faceboook page.
The law also comprises a lot of provisions meant to improve the proportional electoral system, existing until 2017.
-improving the voting method in the diaspora,
-limiting the amount of donations and transparent financing of parties and electoral campaigns,
-establishing clear and transparent procedures when drawing up lists of candidates, etc
Also, the draft law providing for the annulment of the mixed electoral system was adopted on 15 August at an extraordinary session of the parliament.
