The European Commission has decided to allocate some funds to the Eastern Partnership states

The European Commission today decided to reallocate 140 million euros for urgent needs in the Republic of Moldova and other Eastern Partnership states (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine), in the context of combating the COVID-19 epidemic.

In addition, the Commission has decided to redirect another 700 million euros from already existing instruments to reduce the socio-economic effects of the COVID-19 epidemic in the Eastern Neighborhood. The money will be used for the purchase of medical and protective equipment, such as fans, lab kits, masks, goggles, robes and safety suits.

Also, some of the money will be allocated for the training of medical and emergency personnel or support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

"We are in crisis, and our needs often exceed our resources. But this is not an excuse to forget about our neighbors who are not in the European Union and for whom the crisis will be even more difficult. In the midst of the crisis generated by COVID-19, the European Union remains supportive and supports the Republic of Moldova and the countries of the Eastern Neighborhood,” mentioned the European Deputy Siegfried Muresan.
