Moldovan authorities are preparing a request to the US regarding the extradition of Vlad Plahotniuc

Moldovan authorities are preparing an address to the United States of America (US) regarding the extradition of former Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc. The announcement was made by the head of state, Igor Dodon, at the weekly talk show "President Responds". According to him, US authorities have confirmed that the former president of the Democratic Party would be in their state, reports Moldova 1.

The head of state claims that once he is extradited, Vlad Plahotniuc will be held responsible according to the legislation.

"A few days ago I spoke with US representatives, who confirmed that Plahotniuc is on US territory. In Moldova, a criminal case is initiated on Plahotniuc. We already know that he is in the US. The responsible courts in Moldova are going to address the US partners, and I think this will be done in the coming days, so that they will take the decision to extradite him to the Republic of Moldova and here the appropriate measures will be taken,” specified Igor Dodon.
