Failed parliamentary hearings on "Chisinau Arena"

Parliamentary hearings on the "Arena Chisinau" sports complex have been canceled. And that's because some government officials are in self-isolation. Some of the deputies were dissatisfied and requested that those targeted be repeatedly invited to the hearings, reports Moldova 1.

DA Platform Deputy Alexandru Slusari found that the situation is critical. "We cannot rely on this information we have received. We need to call the Ministry of Economy and the Public Property Agency. The National Arena is a criminal scheme," the politician said.

"It simply came to our notice then. How do you want me to bring them, to take them in my arms? We are making a repeated invitation," the President of the Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, replied in reply.

More jokingly, more seriously, some deputies suggested that changes be made to the normative framework, so that officials who refuse to appear at parliamentary hearings are forcibly brought to the Legislature. "This is the first time that the representatives of an institution refuse to come to the plenary of the Parliament in order to present exhaustively certain information of public interest," mentioned the deputy of the DA Platform Dinu Plîngău.

The reply of the President of the Legislature was not long in coming. "People who know the real situation must come, not simply for someone to come to the rostrum and not know what to answer. I absolutely agree with the way you propose to act. Propose changes to the normative framework and let's do it," said Zinaida Greceanii.

Representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Economy were to attend the hearings on the situation at the "Chisinau Arena" during the sitting of the Parliament. With a step in this direction, came the DA Platform. The construction of the "Chisinau Arena" complex started on October 14, 2018. It has a capacity of five thousand seats. The complex was to have a multipurpose hall, Olympic pool, Aqua Park, Tennis Club, swimming pool open in summer, which will turn into an ice rink in winter, but also a modern parking lot.
