The first confirmed case of coronavirus in southern Italy
A tourist from Bergamo on vacation with friends in Palermo had a positive result for the coronavirus test, according to Ansa, quoted by Mediafax. It is the first confirmed case of coronavirus in southern Italy.
The tourist from Bergamo, on vacation in Palermo, tested positive for the coronavirus and was admitted to Cervello hospital on Monday night.
"We have a suspected positive case that resulted from the test," the Palermo authorities announced.
The tourist's friends also went into quarantine, as well as all the people with whom they had contacts.
In Italy, the latest information shows that seven people died from Covid-19 virus, and the number of infected people reached 229.
