A bank in Russia freezes the accounts of a Venezuela's oil company

Russian creditor Gazprombank has decided to freeze the accounts of the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA, the Reuters news agency reported, quoted mediafax.ro as saying on Sunday.

In addition, the Russian bank has discontinued transactions with the PDVSA to reduce the risk that the bank may be penalized by US sanctions, according to a Gazprombank source quoted by Reuters.

"PDVSA accounts are currently frozen. As you will understand, operations can not be carried out," the Reuters source said.

Gazprombank did not respond to Reuters' request to comment on this.
